Tucson malpractice suit goes to trial

by Administrator 13. May 2010 05:47

A 23 year-old Tucson man recently brought his suit against the University Medical Center to trial after the hospital allegedly removed a testicle without the proper grounds to do so.

According to the plaintiff, the hospital informed the man that the biopsy on his right testicle would end in its removal if the surgeon found the testicle to be cancerous. The doctor had found a peculiar mass during an ultrasound, and wanted to ensure that the seemingly tumorous growth was not malignant. Following the procedure, the patient awoke to find the testicle missing, and assumed that it was cancerous. However, in a follow-up discussion with his physician, the man learned that the mass was not cancerous.

The hospital has defended their actions, claiming that they told the plaintiff that the surgery was specifically an excisional biopsy prior to the procedure. A nurse corroborated the doctor's claim, stating that the plaintiff told the nurse that he was there to have the testicle removed.

Currently, the trial is underway.

by Administrator 6. May 2010 07:45

Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Bullhead City, Arizona Saturday.

According to officials with the Bullhead City Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Highway 95 at the Rising Star Road intersection. Bullhead City Fire Department spokesman Larry Tunforss said the driver's side door of one vehicle was heavily damaged and the driver was trapped inside.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the door of the vehicle and another tool was used to raise the dashboard so the woman could be freed.

The driver was transported by helicopter to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas in stable condition. A 9 year-old boy in the front seat was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical with minor injuries, where he was treated and released.

Two other people sustained minor injuries in the crash and were taken to Valley View Medical Center.

Tucson school bus rear-ended, 1 injured

by Administrator 30. April 2010 05:45

On Wednesday afternoon, a Tucson school bus was rear-ended while stopping, leaving one person injured. All six children and all three adults on the bus were unharmed. The school bus is equipped with seat belts for the driver and passengers.

The bus was rear-ended while completing its after-school route when it stopped for a railroad crossing. The driver behind the bus failed to stop in time and rear-ended the bus before the crossing. Another driver several cars back rear-ended a car stopping as well. All school buses must stop at railroad crossings to ensure that a train is not approaching and that the bus has enough clearance to safely and completely cross the tracks. It is against the law to pass a stopped school bus.

Rear-end collisions can cause severe injury to those involved, including head trauma and whiplash. If you or someone you know has been hurt in a rear-end collision, you may have grounds to pursue a lawsuit for your accident-related costs. Tucson man dodges felony charges on technicality

by Administrator 23. April 2010 05:53
A recent car accident in Tuscon took the lives of two individuals. According to police, a 29-year-old Tucson man driving with a suspended license failed to stop for a red light at East 22nd Street around 8:45 a.m., smashing into a car being driven woman who was 9 months pregnant. The collision killed the woman's 4-year-old daughter as well as her 55-year-old aunt, who were both in the car with her. The 29-year-old man was uninjured in the crash.

The man responsible for the crash has escaped felony charges with only a suspended license citation and two other civil traffic violations.

This is because the incident does not meet proper criteria for a felony charge, which states that a driver who is driving with a suspended license and who causes a fatal accident may only be charged with a felony if that license was suspended for certain reasons. Because the 29-year-old man's license was not suspended for one of the specifically listed reasons, he cannot be charged with a felony.

The  pregnant woman gave birth to a baby girl Wednesday, the day after the accident.
